ADOLESCENCE - BAYNK [ALBUM]

Jock Nowell-Usticke, or BAYNK, the New Zealand producer/DJ, has dropped his debut Album, ADOLESCENCE. Rising to stardom with his euphoric style of electronic music, he's made a name for himself without one album out. Now, he's graciously dropped his full-length album to soundtrack the upcoming year.

The album plays out like the background of a coming of age film set at the beach. Clocking in at around 35 minutes, the 10 track album is able to perfectly capture the feeling of moments. Maybe it's a moment you are currently in or a nostalgic memory from the past. Either way, his songs allow you to sink deeply into warm familiar feelings. It can just make you zone out and get lost as it takes you away. Listening to this project is like a getting a big hug filled with dopamine and daydreams of a life of bliss.

His production hits your ears like the warm summer sun on your skin. It's reminiscent of artists like Flume and The 1975's recent work, but it holds its own identity with his ability to capture specific screenshots of time that you wish you could live in for eternity. Each track feels so alive with its shifting emotional beats and subtle yet effective builds. The plethora of talented vocalists add on top to tell tales of relationships and youthful times. BAYNK beautifully mixes their voices in the production to create such a rich sound.

It may be January, but ADOLESCENCE will have you dreaming of summer. I can't wait to listen to this album on a warm beach surrounded by friends. He said on twitter that he hopes the album "perhaps soundtracks memories and moments in your own life that you can hold on to." I think his hope will absolutely come true as that's what this project was made to do. Give it shot and you will not be disappointed.
