Harrison Finks - Artist Spotlight

Meet Memphis musician, Harrison Finks. Harrison was thrown into music from a young age. Both of his parent’s played music, so he grew up around pianos, finding a real love for the craft. He started playing shows on Beale Street in Memphis when he was just 13 years old. Ever since then, he’s played more live shows than you can count while working on his own music career.

Harrison is the type of musician who is just well versed in it all. Coming from Memphis, the city has shaped his sound and the way he plays, so it’s no surprise that keys are where he finds the most solace in writing music. He says that he starts writing music on piano, adding guitar and lyrics after. The Hammond B3 organ has been a staple for him throughout his musical journey, so he makes sure to add it to every song.

Though it wasn’t his original plan, Harrison also sings on all his songs. He had always sung a little, but he was never too confident in his abilities. Getting invited to Miami by YoungArts for songwriting, he didn’t expect to sing, but he got a vocalist badge and was thrown into the fire. Ever since then, he has learned to love his voice.

Having synesthesia and perfect pitch, he’s been able to develop a 3d relationship with music that he makes. Memphis has definitely defined his playing style. His music has a laid back feel with the touch of the city's unique sound. It's funk, soul, with a pop sound all rolled into one package.

Collaboration is a huge part of Harrison’s career. He plays for other people, and he even went on tour with Lindsey Lomis in the past. He loves to go out on the road with other artists to help follow and deepen their journey. He produces for others as well and is currently building his own studio in Nashville. He loves to work through the process of making music with artists to bring their vision to life.

Whether it’s for his own music or someone else’s, Harrison Finks' immense talent is something to pay attention to. He has such a humble approach to making music with creativity and exploration at the forefront. With someone like him who can do it all, there’s no saying where his career may go!

Harrison is working on an EP right now. He says that it should be coming out this year, so stay tuned for that!
