Nigo has been creating a hype for his upcoming record with a stream of hot new singles featuring everyone from A$AP Rocky to Pusha T. Most recently, he has enlisted the help of Lil Uzi Vert for his new single, Heavy.
Something Nigo has done recently with his album is take sounds that are adjacent to what artists usually work with and try them out. The beats seem familiar yet feel like they have a fresh edge to them. I've been extremely pleased with the results for the other singles and was excited to see what was in store for Uzi. When the track kicked off with a familiar "AXL" producer tag, I have to say I was a bit surprised. I was not expecting to hear Uzi over a drill beat.
Producer AXL Beats has made instrumentals for the likes of Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, and Drake. I would've not expected Uzi to work alongside him, but I was really happy with the result. Uzi has conquered the world at this point, so to see him continuing to venture in new areas with great success is always a joy to witness. The flows and lyrics are as catchy as you would expect from a Lil Uzi song, making me hopeful to see more of Uzi rapping over a drill beat in the future.
