Rapper THOTO dropped his new EP, O.T.W.T. From top to bottom, the tape is absolutely hypnotic.
Thoto's production is filled with intoxicating spaced out sounds. While it's only 5 tracks, each song stands alone from the others. He plays with everything from dark and atmospheric to more melodic trap sounds. Thoto is able to adjust his flows and vocal inflection to flawlessly meet the needs of each specific song. He shows that he's got many tricks up his sleeve when it comes to songwriting, keeping each song fresh and entrancing from first listen. His sound is just so full and captivating, so the culmination of it all just draws you in.
The project is reminiscent of some of the styles in rap today while sounding completely new and exclusively his. He's got the ear for picking some of the most enticingly raw and psychedelic sounds out there, and he meets them perfectly with his catchy lyrics and vocals. Sitting at around 16 minutes, Thoto covers a ton of ground in such short amount of time. I'm looking forward to hearing more music from him, especially in longer projects. With the quality of music he's making, there's no telling how far it's going to go.
