Sirens - Flume ft. Caroline Polachek [SONG]

Flume knows how to make an entrance. In February he released, Say Nothing, featuring MAY-A, which was a fantastic melodic dubstep track. After a two month wait since the last single, he has returned with Sirens featuring the wonderfully talented, Caroline Polachek. The two team up for a jaw-dropping masterpiece that is both haunting and gorgeous at the same time.

The track kicks off immediately with Polachek's all-encompassing vocals. Throughout the duration of the song, her performance is absolutely heavenly. The melodies and power behind her voice are just absolutely impeccable. Polachek is a perfect collaboration for Flume because she adds such a soft pureness to some of the rough industrial edge that he adds to his tracks. The two aspects work together in perfect harmony to create a fantastic product.

Flume's production on Sirens takes some of the sounds we are familiar with in his music, while combining and building on them in new ways at the same time. The track seems like an extension and perfect follow-up to his 2019 mixtape, Hi, This is Flume. Its drums and percussion sounds have such a brilliant piercing and metallic edge to them. Throughout the track, he builds with a wonderful classic Flume synth that takes it to a transcendent place.

My only problem with Sirens is that it ends. The culmination of so much beautiful and gritty sounds make for such a remarkable listening experience where you just want to hear it over and over to experience the highs and lows one more time. Flume is in a great spot right now with his previous mixtape being a constant influx of material, showcasing the best sides of himself. Whether he wants to build on that or venture in new directions, he cannot go wrong. I am excited and on-edge to see what else is on the way from Flume in the coming year because it is looking extremely promising.
